Final document adopted at Decolonization: Silent Revolution conference at UN

At the UN headquarters in New York, a final document was adopted at the conclusion of the Decolonization: Silent Revolution conference organized by the Baku Initiative Group with representatives of the International Decolonization Front, Report informs.

The document noted that colonialism has inflicted irreparable deep wounds on a global scale, and strongly condemned colonial powers for consistently refusing to be held accountable for their historical crimes.

The statement also emphasized that states like France and the Netherlands continue their colonial policies today, highlighting that they continue to keep territories such as Guadeloupe, Martinique, French Guiana, Reunion, Mayotte, Bonaire, Sint Maarten, and others under subjugation.

Stressing that colonial crimes are crimes against humanity, the document stated that colonial regimes must pay dignified compensation for their crimes. Otherwise, it called for the adoption of international sanctions against them.

Additionally, the document expressed support for NGOs like the Baku Initiative Group in their efforts to expose colonialism within the framework of international law, and strongly condemned the resolution adopted against the Baku Initiative Group in the French National Assembly on March 28.

In conclusion, the participants expressed their gratitude to the Baku Initiative Group for organizing the event.
