Farmers in India announce nationwide strike

Farmers’ associations and peasant unions in India have announced a nationwide strike on February 16 from 06:00 local time (04:30 Baku time), Report informs referring to the Hindustan Times newspaper.

The leaders of the influential organization Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM, United Peasant Front) appealed to all like-minded organizations with a request to take part in this strike.

Farmers report that as part of the rally they intend to block several railways and highways for four hours, from 12:00 to 16:00 local time. It is expected that transport will be disrupted, in addition, agricultural work will stop, rural shops and agricultural enterprises will remain closed.
