Far-right party surges in German polls amid regional election triumphs

The right-wing Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has seen its popularity surge to a six-month high following victories in recent state elections in Thuringia and Saxony.

According to Report, a new survey commissioned by Bild newspaper and conducted by the INSA institute reveals that 20% of German voters are now prepared to back the AfD in late September, marking the party's strongest showing since March.

Meanwhile, 32% of Germans expressed support for the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the center-right party currently led by Chancellor Angela Merkel. p>
