European Parliament wants to strip immunity from MPs suspected of corruption

The Committee on Legal Affairs (JURI) of the European Parliament supported the deprivation of immunity of two deputies - Belgium's Marc Tarabella and Italy's Andrea Cozzolino, who are suspected of corruption, French MEP Manon Aubry said on Twitter, Report informs.

The Legal Affairs Committee unanimously approved reports in favor of lifting immunity, Manon Aubry said.

As expected, the final decision on the MEPs’ immunity will be made at the plenary session of the European Parliament on Thursday.

Earlier, media reported that Belgian police raided the building of the European Parliament in Brussels on December 12 in an investigation into a corruption case with the participation of the Deputy Head of the European Parliament, Eva Kaili.
