European Commission to ban main agricultural imports from Ukraine from early May

The European Commission is working on a regulation banning imports of wheat, corn, rapeseed and sunflower seeds to five Eastern European countries and wants the embargo to come into effect on May 2, Report informs referring to RBC-Ukraine.

Until May 2, Poland will lift the ban on the import of several dozen food products from Ukraine in order to replace it with an EU decision on an embargo on four products.

“These are the agreements between the five countries and the European Commission,” reads the report.

Poland, Bulgaria, Hungary and Slovakia have confirmed that they will lift the national measures as soon as possible. Now the European Commission is waiting for specific decisions on this matter. The bottom line is to avoid the parallel application of bans.
