Europe reduces dependence on Russian gas from 40% to 8%

Europe has been able to reduce its dependence on Russian gas from 40% at the beginning of 2022 to 8%, spokesperson for the French Foreign Ministry Anne-Claire Legendre said in an interview with RTVI channel, Report informs referring to TASS.

“Today we depend on Russian gas by only 8%, while at the beginning of last year this dependence was more than 40%,” she said. “This is an irreversible process, as this is a profound strategic change in the structuring of the European energy mix, and this is a change for the future.”

She noted that “the same was done in connection with the oil embargo.” “Today, according to our estimates, in 2022 alone, Russia has lost 50 billion in energy revenue,” Legendre said.
