Europe at greatest risk of war, says OSCE Chairman-in-Office

Poland's foreign minister, OSCE Chairman-in-Office Zbigniew Rau said that Europe was closer to war than any time in the last 30 years as Russia gave a bleak assessment of diplomatic efforts this week to defuse tensions over Ukraine, Report informs, citing Reuters.

"For several weeks, we are faced with the prospect of a major military escalation in Eastern Europe," he said.

"We should focus on a peaceful resolution of the conflict in and around Ukraine," Rau added, calling for "full respect of the sovereignty, territorial integrity and unity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders".
