EU to ask third countries to strengthen trade controls amid sanctions

The European Union intends to ask third countries that have faced a sharp increase in imports of advanced technologies and other goods from its member states to strengthen trade controls against the background of anti-Russian sanctions, Report informs via Bloomberg.

According to the agency, the sanctions have led to a significant reduction in exports to Russia of advanced semiconductors, integrated circuits and other technologies from the EU and G7 countries. At the same time, supplies to countries such as Türkiye, the UAE, Kazakhstan have allegedly increased sharply, and exports from these countries to the Russian Federation have also soared.

In this regard, the EU plans to appeal to third countries with a request to strengthen control over trade. According to the agency, the EU and its allies are paying more and more attention to tightening any loopholes that allow them to circumvent the sanctions they have imposed.
