EU summit opens with minute of silence in memory of quake victims in Turkiye, Syria

The European Union leaders' summit started in Brussels, Belgium, Report informs, citing a tweet by President of the European Council Charles Michel.

The summit opened with a moment of silence in memory of the earthquake victims in Turkiye and Syria.

"Our thoughts continue to be with the families who have lost loved ones and those still awaiting news. The EU stands in full solidarity," Charles Michel said.

The EU summit participants will discuss the best way to support Ukraine with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Also, there will be a discussion on strengthening competitiveness and the single market.
