EU sanctions to include 100 people & companies, 47 types of electronic components

The EU will include 47 types of electronic components and about 100 people and companies in the 10th package of sanctions against Russia, which is scheduled to be introduced by February 24, President of the European Commission (EC) Ursula von der Leyen and Head of EU diplomacy Josep Borrell said, Report informs referring to TASS.

“We will continue to ban the export of dual-use goods and high-tech products to Russia. We propose to ban 47 types of electronic components that can be used in Russian weapons systems, including missiles, drones, helicopters. As well as components based on rare earth elements used for thermal imagers,” said von der Leyen.

In addition, she promised to ban the export of industrial and high-tech goods worth 11 billion euros to Russia, in particular “those that cannot be supplied from China” including aircraft engines and their components, heavy construction equipment and spare parts, communication systems.

Borrell said in turn that the black list will include about 100 people and companies. “I’m proposing to the EU Council a list of almost 100 people and companies,” he said, noting that they are politicians, the military and “propagandists.”

“I call on EU member states to promptly adopt this package of sanctions,” the head of the EC added.

The EU intends to introduce a new package of sanctions by February 24 - the date of the start of hostilities by Russia in Ukraine.
