EU preparing to agree on suspension of visa facilitation with Russia

Permanent representatives of EU countries may agree on a complete suspension of the visa facilitation agreement with Russia during the COREPER meeting on September 7, Report informs citing foreign media.

According to the published program of the event, Western countries have imposed unprecedented anti-Russian sanctions in connection with the fighting in Ukraine and continue to tighten restrictions.

In late August, EU foreign ministers agreed to suspend the 2007 visa facilitation agreement between the Russian Federation and the European Union, making it more difficult and expensive for Russian citizens to obtain visas.
