EU nations planning to include up to 30 Russian citizens on sanctions list

The European Union member states are planning to impose sanctions on 27 Russian citizens in the event of a hypothetical "invasion" of Ukraine by Russia, the British newspaper The Financial Times reports, citing two informed persons, according to Report.

The EU diplomatic service proposed to impose sanctions against 27 Russians, while Poland called for 55 representatives of the Russian Federation to be included on the sanctions list.

According to the newspaper, the preliminary sanctions list will be updated taking into account the circumstances.

Earlier, Bloomberg, citing sources, reported that the EU, at the initiative of Italy, is considering the possibility of excluding the energy sector from new possible sanctions against Russia in the event of an escalation of the situation around Ukraine.

Since the fall of 2021, the Western media, as well as Ukraine, have been claiming that Russia is allegedly preparing for a "large-scale invasion" of Ukraine. Moscow has repeatedly rejected such allegations.
