Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan believes that leaving Libya to Libyan National Army Commander Haftar would be a historic mistake.
Report says, citing TASS, that Erdogan expressed his position on the matter in an article for Politico newspaper, published ahead of the international conference on Libya in Berlin.
"Some may ask why Europe must be primarily involved in the Libyan conflict, while there are other wars, clashes, and humanitarian crises. First of all, the potential inability of the European Union to support the Libyan government of national accord would be a betrayal of its key values that include democracy and human rights. Leaving Libya to Haftar would be a historic mistake. Moreover, if the legitimate government of Libya is ousted, Europe will face a new set of threats and challenges," the Turkish President believes.
