The already dire conditions in Gaza's overcrowded refugee camps have taken a deadly turn as eight Palestinians, including seven infants, have died from hypothermia over the past two days. The deaths were reported by Qatar's Al Jazeera television channel, citing a Gaza health official, Report informs.
Heavy rains have battered the region, flooding the makeshift shelters that house tens of thousands of displaced families across the Gaza Strip. Over 1,500 tents have been inundated, leaving refugees with soaked clothing and meager belongings in the face of plummeting temperatures, according to the Gaza Civil Defense Authority, as reported by the Palestinian news agency WAFA.
Many of Gaza's displaced persons lack access to essential winter supplies, exacerbating their plight.
