At least eight people have died and more than 40 have been injured in a road accident in India, Report informs, citing TASS.
According to law enforcement agencies, the incident occurred late on Saturday evening after a bus fell into a ravine in the southeastern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. According to the police, the accident was caused by a high speed of the vehicle.
The injured were taken to hospitals. State Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy announced the allocation of 200,000 rupees (more than $6,500) to the families of the victims. Those injured in the accident will receive 50,000 Indian rupees each (more than $660).
"I express my condolences for the loss of life in the tragic bus accident in Chittoor, Andhra Pradesh. My condolences to the families of the victims. I hope that the victims will recover soon," Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi wrote on his Twitter.
