Egypt, Israel, Qatar, US working to extend truce in Gaza

Representatives from Egypt, Israel, Qatar and the United States are working to extend the pause in hostilities in Israel and the Gaza Strip, Report informs via TASS

A CNN source said that representatives of the four countries hope that the ceasefire will continue on Thursday if Hamas releases at least 10 Israeli hostages on Wednesday. The pause in hostilities could thus be extended by a day.

Currently in Qatar are CIA Director William Burns, Israeli Mossad intelligence chief David Barnea and Qatari representatives who maintain close ties with the political leadership of Hamas. The intelligence chiefs will discuss the next phase of the ceasefire agreement, the sources said.

On November 22, Hamas announced that it had reached an agreement with Israel, through the mediation of Egypt and Qatar, on a humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip for four days.
