Egypt, EU to co-op in production of green hydrogen, ammonia

Egypt and the European Union have concluded several cooperation agreements in the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia and the construction of plants related to this industry on Egyptian territory, Egyptian Minister of Planning and Economic Development Hala el-Said said on the sidelines of the Egypt-EU forum in Cairo, Report informs referring to TASS.

“We have signed a number of agreements regarding the production of green hydrogen and green ammonia, and we are also working together with several European companies on the construction of enterprises in Egypt that will be related to this area,” she emphasized.

The minister has not yet provided any other details of the deal.

El-Said also noted that, according to her information, an agreement on the construction of a Volkswagen automobile plant in Egypt will be signed on the sidelines of the forum. Plans to localize the production of German cars have been talked about in Cairo for more than six months, since the fall of 2023.

Egypt and the EU have signed four agreements providing EU funding for several programs aimed at promoting private enterprise and vaccine production, as well as vocational training for Egyptian youth. According to the press service of the Egyptian government, the total amount of funds allocated to the EU under these agreements is 299 million euros.
