Dominican Republic cancels all COVID-related restrictions

President of the Dominican Republic Luis Abinader has decided to lift all restrictive measures related to coronavirus in the country, Report informs with reference to TASS.

“Measures such as the use of the mask, the need to present the vaccination card to access all places, or restrictions in public spaces, today, are the individual responsibility of each and every one of us. After this long battle, we begin to regain freedom. We will continue to monitor and observe the situation. The country can also be sure that, unlike the past, our health system is today prepared to meet any eventuality,” reads a statement by Abinader.

He has called on the country’s citizens to be vaccinated against COVID-19 and get their booster doses.

According to official figures, more than 570,000 cases of coronavirus infection were detected in the Dominican Republic, 4,349 people died. Some 5.8 million people have been fully vaccinated, which is more than half of the country’s population.
