A devastating landslide triggered by Super Typhoon Gaemi has claimed the lives of at least 12 people and injured six others in Southern China, according to Report, which cites Reuters. The city of Hengyang bore the brunt of the disaster, with heavy rainfall causing the landslide and prompting the evacuation of approximately 300,000 residents. Authorities have issued warnings of potential flooding in the region.

During rescue efforts in the city of Linjiang, the deputy mayor and another official went missing, adding to the toll of this catastrophic event. Super Typhoon Gaemi has left a trail of destruction in its wake, having previously battered Taiwan and the Philippines, bringing the total number of fatalities to 25 and leaving more than 300 people injured.
