Czech president may be stripped of his powers

Czech President Milos Zeman, who was hospitalized on October 10, must recover within the next two weeks to be able to serve as president. Otherwise, the president may be deprived of his powers, Report informs, referring to the Czech Radio.

Thus, the new members of the Czech Parliament (lower house) will hold their first session on November 8. The deputies may raise the issue of the temporary transfer of presidential powers from Zeman to the speaker of the lower house or the prime minister.

Earlier, the Senate speaker (upper house of the Czech parliament) Milos Vystrcil said that an extraordinary meeting on Zeman's health could be convened on November 9 in the Senate.

Jitka Zinke, a spokeswoman for the Central Military Hospital, said Zeman's health had become better thanks to the complex treatment.
