Czech president allows 14 citizens to join Ukraine’s Armed Forces

Czech President Petr Pavel has allowed 14 citizens of the country to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine and rejected eight more such requests, Report informs referring to TASS.

The predecessor of Pavel Milos Zeman, who took the post of head of state on March 9, issued 132 permits to the citizens of the republic from February 24, 2022 to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Thus, their total number was 146.

Meanwhile, it is not known how many of those who received permits actually went to Ukraine. Czech law excludes the possibility of the participation of citizens of the republic in military or paramilitary foreign formations without the permission of the president. This rule may apply to foreigners with a residence permit.

On July 2, the Czech media reported that the police charged one of the citizens of the country with joining a volunteer battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine without the permission of the president of the republic.

According to the media, he admitted that he did not apply to the head of state for him, since the representatives of the authorities in oral statements guaranteed the release from criminal liability to those who join the defense of Ukraine, and therefore he doesn’t consider himself guilty.
