The Spanish consumer price index (CPI) rose 10.8% in July compared to the same period last year, the biggest increase since 1984, according to the National Institute of Statistics of the country, Report informs referring to Reuters.
This report confirms the preliminary estimate published at the end of July, and is also in line with the forecasts of economists polled by Reuters.
The core consumer price index (Core CPI), which does not take into account volatile food and energy prices, rose 6.1% in July compared to the same period last year after rising 5.5% a month earlier.
The consumer price index, harmonized according to EU standards, rose by 10.7% in July compared to the same period last year. The preliminary index, revealed two weeks ago, rose by 10.8%.
