Congressional committee recommends banning Trump from holding public office

The Committee believes that those who took an oath to defend the Constitution and then participated in the January 6 insurrection may be appropriately disqualified and stripped of the right to hold public office - whether federal or state, civilian or military, the report says.

Trump's supporters stormed the Capitol on January 6, 2021. As a result, five people, including a policeman, died. US President Joe Biden called the assault an armed uprising.
