Chinese authorities note coronavirus outbreak in Tibet first time in 2.5 years

For the first time in two and a half years, Chinese authorities have identified a coronavirus outbreak in the Tibet Autonomous Region, said the National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China, Report informs via TASS.

Over the past day, doctors registered 22 cases of coronavirus infection in the region.

According to the commission, 21 of the identified cases are asymptomatic. There has been no recorded coronavirus infection in Tibet for more than 920 days.

Over the past day, China recorded 939 new cases of COVID infection (88% local, 12% imported), including 540 asymptomatic ones. The most challenging epidemic situation is developing in the southern province of Hainan, where doctors detected an outbreak a week ago.
