According to the agency, Washington could make the request as early as November.
The exact amount of additional funding has not yet been determined. However, the gap between the value of weapons whose sales have already been approved and the amount of funding received is estimated at approximately $2 billion.
The PURL (Prioritised Ukraine Requirements List) programme provides for the purchase of US weapons for Ukraine using funds contributed by NATO allies and other partners. The North Atlantic Alliance coordinates the deliveries.
