An international conference titled "Belgium's colonial injustice and the 101-year path to reparations," organized by the Baku Initiative Group (BIG), will be held in Baku on August 21.
According to Report, the event will be attended by officials from former Belgian colonies - the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Rwanda, and Burundi, where Belgium continues to maintain neocolonial influence, as well as representatives of Morocco, South Africa, and the UN.
Guests will include the DRC Ombudsman, members of the Congolese parliament, Rwanda's ambassador to Türkiye, diplomats, and UN experts.
Experts in international law, the restoration of historical justice and reparations, as well as researchers and human rights advocates, will also participate in the conference.
