French President Emmanuel Macron expressed support for Japan's plans to take all necessary security measures for the Tokyo Summer Olympics and confirmed that he would attend the opening ceremony, Report informs with reference to the Japanese Foreign Ministry.
Macron voiced his support during a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga. The meeting took place on Saturday in Cabris Bay, Cornwall, where the G7 summit is taking place.
The two countries' leaders also discussed cooperation in the field of environmental protection and the development of advanced technologies. In addition, Suga welcomed the active collaboration between Japan and France in the Indo-Pacific region, including the dispatch of French warships.
The Japanese Prime Minister also held a short conversation with US President Joe Biden in Cabris Bay. According to NHK TV, Suga talked about the measures that Tokyo is taking to ensure the safe conduct of the Olympics. Biden supported the plans to organize the Games.
