Berlusconi’s legacy estimated at almost 5B euros

Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who died on June 12, remained one of the country’s richest men, Report informs referring to the Corriere della Sera newspaper.

His legacy is estimated at almost 5 billion euros, which will pass to his 5 children and 16 grandchildren.

The main share falls on the Fininvest family holding, which was valued at 4.89 billion euros. It includes 50% of Mediaset TV company and 53% of Mondadori publishing house, as well as Mediolanum bank. Each of the five children (two eldest from the first marriage - Marina and Pier Silvio - occupy key positions there) owns 7.65%, while Berlusconi retained 61.3%.

According to the latest Forbes ranking, Berlusconi was ranked third in the list of the richest people in Italy. In some years, he came out on top. The magazine estimated his fortune at 6.9 billion euros, according to market criteria. The basis for all Berlusconi's companies, including football clubs - formerly Milan, and now Monza - was Fininvest, which made it possible to never go into the red and cover losses, for example from Milan, which became unprofitable in the last years of Berlusconi’s ownership.

In addition to business, Berlusconi owns several villas, palaces and houses. His most famous residence near Milan is the Villa San Martino in Arcore, where on June 13 the farewell to the politician will take place in private, only ‘for the closest.’ Another famous residence of Berlusconi is the summer Certosa on the island of Sardinia.
