Beijing is banning the use of unmanned aerial vehicles within the city under new rules announced on Sunday.
According to Associated Press, cited by Report, as part of tighter regulations on drone use, a ban on the sale of these devices came into effect in May, while a ban on their possession will take effect in mid-November.
The authorities in the Chinese capital have banned unauthorized drone flights, citing security concerns, and designated the city's administrative territory as a restricted airspace zone.
The latest changes to the rules came after a small aircraft crashed into a skyscraper in Beijing in late June, killing one person and injuring 13 others.
It is specified that starting November 15, the possession or storage of drones or their key components within Beijing will be prohibited. Authorities may confiscate drones from those who fail to comply and impose fines on individuals and companies.
Bringing drones into Beijing from other cities, including by tourists, is also prohibited.
