Azerbaijan, Belarus maintain strong cooperation momentum

Regular high-level meetings and active political dialogue ensure strong momentum in the development of comprehensive cooperation between Azerbaijan and Belarus.

Report informs that Azerbaijani Deputy Prime Minister Samir Sharifov said this at a reception in Baku marking Belarus" Independence Day.

According to him, relations between the two countries have developed consistently since diplomatic ties were established in 1993. He noted that over the years of diplomatic relations, Baku and Minsk have raised bilateral cooperation to a high level of mutually beneficial partnership.

"The decisive role in achieving these successes in recent years has been played by the mutual trust and strong political will of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko," Sharifov said.

He stressed that Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko's state visit to Azerbaijan in 2024 was another confirmation of the strategic nature of relations between the two countries.

The deputy prime minister said important decisions were made following the visit to further strengthen the partnership, while new promising areas of cooperation were also identified.

Sharifov also noted the participation of Belarusian state institutions and companies in the restoration of Karabakh and East Zangezur.

"This work has already begun," he said.

According to the deputy prime minister, a joint Belarusian-Azerbaijani enterprise for the production of elevators and escalators is being established in the Aghdam Industrial Park, while jointly produced elevators are already being installed in new buildings in Aghdam.

In addition, joint work has begun to create a modern construction complex in Gizilkand village of Aghdam district.
