S. Korea: Deadly downpours kill at least 12 People

The central regions have been battered by days of torrential downpours that have triggered flooding, mudslides, and widespread damage.

At least 12 people have been killed, 14 are missing and seven injured as of early Tuesday.
Meanwhile, showers continue, wreaking havoc on recovery efforts.

The Central Disaster Management Headquarters said six more deaths reported on Monday alone.
Three people killed after a landslide engulfed a factory in Pyeongtaek, while a family of three in Gapyeong died after a wave of mud and rocks destroyed their pension.

Six others were also reported missing, including a 60-year-old driver who was swept away by fast-moving currents on a flooded road in Jincheon, North Chungcheong Province.

The rain has displaced over 1,000 people, the most in North Chungcheong, followed by Gyeonggi, Gangwon, and Seoul.
