American diplomat arrives in Türkiye for talks on Syria

Acting US Deputy Secretary of State for Political Affairs John Bass arrived in Ankara for a two-day visit to discuss the situation in Syria following the fall of President Bashar al-Assad's regime, Report informs via Hürriyet newspaper.

One of the discussion topics is about the YPG terrorist organization militants (Syrian wing of PKK) in northern Syria.

The visit takes place at a time when Ankara has toughened its rhetoric against PKK/YPG.

The newspaper's sources in the Turkish Ministry of National Defense stated that Turkish military forces are ready to continue combat operations in neighboring countries; they intend to prevent PKK from destabilizing the region by using important infrastructure facilities like the Tishrin hydroelectric power plant for their interests. The ministry also added that the development of the situation in the region affects Türkiye's borders and Syria's security, and PKK/YPG needs to lay down their arms.
