France wants to re-export Swiss weapons to Ukraine, but the decision remains with Switzerland, French Ambassador to Bern Marion Paradas said in an interview with the Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung, Report informs.
"One can remain a neutral country while being involved. Switzerland must answer the question about the re-export of military equipment itself. But of course, we would welcome permission to supply weapons to Ukraine," said the ambassador, noting that Switzerland has done a lot for Ukraine, for example, provided assistance to refugees.
In May 2023, Switzerland's Permanent Representative to the UN, Pascale Baeriswyl, stated that the re-export of Swiss weapons to Ukraine is impossible without changes in legislation.
