Airlink airline, which operates the majority of flights in Southern Africa, has canceled some flights to Mozambique due to the unstable situation in the country, according to Report.
According to Report, this was stated in an announcement on the company's website.
"We regret to inform about the cancellation of some daily flights from Johannesburg and Cape Town to Maputo in Mozambique due to mass unrest in the country. This morning, flights from Maputo to Cape Town and from Maputo to Johannesburg were canceled. Airlink will continue to monitor the situation in Mozambique, especially in Maputo, on a daily basis and make necessary schedule adjustments," the company said on X.
It should be noted that the opposition in Mozambique is resuming protest actions in the capital Maputo and some other cities, expressing disagreement with the results of the general elections held on October 9.
The day before, Mozambique's Constitutional Council confirmed the victory of the ruling Frelimo party and its candidate Daniel Chapo in the parliamentary and presidential elections respectively.
The opposition demonstrations are turning into unrest, riots, and clashes with police.
