AfD insists on Germany’s withdrawal from EU and euro system

The right-wing party Alternative for Germany (AfD) insists on the country's withdrawal from the European Union in the final draft of its pre-election program, according to Spiegel, Report informs.

The pre-election program draft will be discussed and adopted at the AfD party congress in January.

"We consider Germany's exit from the European Union and the creation of a new European alliance necessary," the document states.

AfD wants to replace the EU with an alliance based on interests and economics. For this, a nationwide referendum should be held to change the European articles in the country's constitution.

Additionally, AfD supports Germany's withdrawal from the euro system and, if necessary, the implementation of a stable national currency while maintaining the euro in parallel.
