Since 2014, approximately 29,000 sanctions have been imposed against Russia, mainly by the United States, Canada, and Switzerland, RIA Novosti said, citing the independent analytical portal Castellum, Report informs.
Thus, as of late April 2025, as many as 28,937 non-trade sanctions had been imposed. Ninety-two percent of these relate to sanctions imposed since the end of February 2022.
The largest number of restrictions was imposed by the United States (7,384 sanctions - 25.5% of all). The top three included Canada (3,639) with a share of 12.6% and Switzerland (3,266) with a share of 11.3%.
The next positions are taken by Norway, which imposed approximately 2,678 restrictions (9.3%), the EU, which has already prepared the 17th package of sanctions (2,482, 8.6%), and Iceland, which repeated European sanctions (2,482, 8.6%), as well as the United Kingdom (2,078, 7.2%).
The top ten was rounded out by New Zealand with 1,860 sanctions (6.4%), Australia with 1,598 sanctions (5.5%), and Japan with 1,441 sanctions (5%).
