6.2-magnitude quake shakes Japan’s Bonin Islands

A 6.2-magnitude earthquake was recorded in the Pacific Ocean near the Bonin Islands (also known as Ogasawara Islands), located more than 700 km from the coast of Honshu, the largest island of the Japanese archipelago, the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Center said, Report informs.

The earthquake occurred 873 km southeast of Hamamatsu (Shizuoka Prefecture) at a depth of 566 km.

There are no reports of casualties or damages. No tsunami threat has been issued.
