Speaker of Azerbaijani parliament meets with her Turkish counterpart

Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (Parliament) Sahiba Gafarova, who is on a business trip to Geneva, Switzerland, met with Numan Kurtulmus, Speaker of Türkiye’s Grand National Assembly, Report informs, citing Milli Majlis.

Kurtulmus congratulated Gafarova on the successful snap parliamentary elections and her re-election as Speaker of the Parliament of Azerbaijan. He expressed satisfaction with the development of fraternal relations between Azerbaijan and Turkey.

Kurtulmus noted that both countries have shown a common position on all issues. He highlighted that after the 44-day Patriotic War, new conditions have emerged in the region. The major construction works in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur, along with the opening of the Zangazur Corridor, will create significant opportunities for the Turkic world and Turkic-speaking countries.

Gafarova expressed her gratitude for the congratulations and noted that Kurtulmus was the first to congratulate her after her re-election.

The meeting emphasized the high-level cooperation between the two countries' parliaments and the continuous activities in this direction.

Both countries are committed to peace and cooperation in the region. The importance of joint parliamentary action on multilateral platforms related to climate change was also noted.

Opinions were exchanged on other issues of mutual interest.
