Punishments for perpetrators of domestic violence are being toughened in Azerbaijan, Report says that amendments are proposed to Article 158.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
Under the amendment, a fine of AZN300 to AZN500 will be imposed for domestic violence, i.e. intentional psychological pressure from one person to another or for the creation of intolerable mental conditions, 60 hours of community service, or up to 3 months of administrative detention, depending on the identity of a perpetrator.
The current paragraph of the code reads: "A fine of AZN300 to AZN500 shall be imposed for domestic violence, i.e. intentional mental pressure on another person or the creation of intolerable mental conditions."
