New law on media adopted in Azerbaijan

A new law "On Media" has been adopted in Azerbaijan.

Report informs that the respective bill was discussed at the last meeting of the parliament's autumn session today.

Information about the bill was provided by the chairman of the Milli Majlis Committee on Human Rights, Zahid Oruj.

Executive director of the Media Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan (MEDIA) Ahmad Ismayilov, officials of the Agency, Chairman of the Press Council Aflatun Amashov attended the meeting.

Then the bill was put to the vote and adopted in the third reading.

The new law consists of 9 chapters and 78 articles and defines the organizational, legal, and economic foundations of activities in the field of media, as well as general rules for receiving, preparing, transmitting, producing, and broadcasting information.
