An Azerbaijani MP has proposed to erect a monument to Nuri Pasha and the Islamic Army of the Caucasus in the country, Report informs.
These proposals came from MP Sabir Rustamkhanli during the discussion of the bill "On Independence Day" in the first reading at today's plenary session of Milli Majlis (Parliament).
The MP stressed that a monument to Nuri Pasha and the Islamic Army of the Caucasus should be erected in Azerbaijan:
"Why is no one paying attention to this issue? In the past, there were those who prevented it. Now there is no such problem. I think this issue must be resolved."
Rustamkhanli also said that deputies who voted for Azerbaijan's independence from the USSR should be given scholarships:
"In foreign countries, these people are called national heroes. But today, they do not want that name. They just need a pension to live a decent life."
