Milli Majlis deputies propose to toughen punishment for insults and slander

Report informs, the first vice-speaker of the Milli Majlis Ziyafet Askerov said.

"This disgrace must end. Blackening campaign against Azerbaijan is doomed to collapse. These people must understand that our country will not be overwhelmed. Azerbaijan deliberately goes forward and nothing will make us turn away from the path”, - he said.

Z. Askerov called for tougher penalties for insults and slander: "President Ilham Aliyev is the guarantor of the development and security of Azerbaijan. We must put an end to the defensive campaign against our country, and for this we need to improve our legal framework."

MP Aydin Mirzazade noted that some circles are making provocations against our country, trying to plunge Azerbaijan into a state of Middle Eastern states.

Deputy of the Milli Majlis Agil Abbas called on the Azerbaijani embassies abroad to seriously address this topic.

Deputy Bakhtiyar Sadigov said that insult against president means insult against people and the state.

Deputies Adil Aliyev and Zahid Oruj called for tough measures to be taken against insults and slander against the head of state.
