Georgian President meets Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker

As part of her official visit to Georgia, Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova met with Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili. Georgian bureau of Report informs that President Salome Zurabishvili emphasized the importance of such visits in terms of exchange of experience.

Emphasizing the role of parliaments in the development of mutual cooperation, the president of the Georgian state expressed her gratitude for the establishment of close relations between the parliaments. She expressed satisfaction with the fact that Georgia and Azerbaijan have always supported each other in the international arena.

Sahiba Gafarova thanked her for the hospitality extended to her delegation. The speaker noted that relations between neighboring and friendly countries - Azerbaijan and Georgia - have a long history. And during the period of independence, these ties were further developed, and this year we will celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.

Sahiba Gafarova highlighted the activities of the joint intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation between the two neighboring and friendly countries. She stressed that Georgia is an active participant in major international projects implemented by Azerbaijan.
