Eldaniz Salimov loses parliamentary mandate

Eldaniz Salimov has lost his parliamentary mandate, Report informs, citing Secretary of the Disciplinary Commission of the Milli Majlis Nurlan Hasanov.

In accordance with the requirements of Article 89 of the Azerbaijani constitution, a parliamentarian is deprived of his/her parliamentary mandate and loses powers in the event of a crime and upon the entry into force of a court verdict, he said.

Today the Sumgayit Grave Crimes Court sentenced Eldaniz Salimov to 3 years and 6 months in prison.

On July 29, 2021, Milli Majlis MP of the Azerbaijan Republic, Eldaniz Salimov beat Zaur Mirzayev, a police officer of the registration and identity cards department under the Khachmaz district police department, at Stariy Dvor restaurant in Khachmaz, while on duty.

Eldaniz Salimov was prosecuted under Article 309.2 (abuse of office) of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and a measure of restraint in the form of detention was chosen by the decision of the Binagadi District Court. Afterward, the criminal case was sent for consideration to the Sumgayit Grave Crimes Court.
