Deputy Chair of the Verkhovna Rada thanks leadership of Azerbaijan for their support to Ukraine

Olena Kondratiuk, Deputy Chair of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, thanked the leadership of Azerbaijan for their continuous support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, Report informs.

"Some people unite nations, they are born and write history. Heydar Aliyev was such a personality for Azerbaijan. He built a new, independent, and prosperous Azerbaijan. Ukraine and Azerbaijan were especially close during the period when they gained their independence. Some events connect peoples. These are the victories and battles that established independence. Now Ukraine is experiencing such events. Ukraine defends its people, language, and land in the war. It is involved in Russia's large-scale aggression, a hideous and brutal war," she said at a special session of the Milli Majlis (parliament) held on May 16 on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

The Deputy Chair of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for the support: "Official Baku provides urgently needed humanitarian aid to Ukraine. This assistance let on when the energy infrastructure of Ukraine was destroyed as a result of Russian airstrikes. I want to thank the leadership of Azerbaijan for their continuous support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine. I assure you that Ukraine will unconditionally support the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within its internationally recognized borders. I especially thank the ethnic Azerbaijanis who fought and died for our freedom in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. We, Ukrainians, will never forget their contribution to our joint victory against Russian aggression. We welcome Azerbaijan, which is open to a just peace with Armenia. We firmly believe in the victory of Ukraine. We must return all the cities and villages of Ukraine. At the same time, the flag of Azerbaijan should fly in all territories."
