Citizens of Azerbaijan, UAE can now make mutual visits without visas

Citizens of Azerbaijan and the United Arab Emirates with ordinary passports will be able to make mutual visits without obtaining visas and stay in the country for 3 months, Report informs with reference to the bill discussed on May 12 at a meeting of the Milli Majlis (Parliament).

The bill envisages amendments to the Law "On approval of the exchange of notes in connection with the amendments to the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United Arab Emirates on the exemption from entry visas of persons holding diplomatic and special/service passports, and on the approval of the Memorandum of Understanding between the Government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Government of the United Arab Emirates United Arab Emirates on the exemption of persons holding diplomatic passports from entry visas."

According to the amendment, the word “diplomatic” in the memorandum is replaced by the words “ordinary civil, diplomatic and special/service”. Previously, visa-free entry only applied to persons with diplomatic and special/service passports, but after the changes are made, it will also apply to persons with ordinary passports.

After discussion, the amendment was put to the vote and adopted.
