Azerbaijani Parliament approves lowering of conscription age limit

The Azerbaijani Parliament, at its plenary session on December 27, adopted amendments to the current legislation in the third and final reading, providing for a reduction in the upper limit of conscription age in Azerbaijan, Report informs.

These changes are provided for in the Regulation "On Military Service."

According to the amendment, conscripts are considered male citizens of the Republic of Azerbaijan aged 18 to 30 years who are on primary military registration or persons who have not completed compulsory military service and who should be registered for military service.

Presently, the age requirement is from 18 to 35 years.

In addition, according to the amendments, the age limit for service in Azerbaijan's Armed Forces has also been reduced from 36.5 years to 31.5 years.
