Azerbaijan to fine hotels without star category

The draft amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses were discussed at today's meeting of the Milli Majlis (Parliament) in the first reading.

Report informs that, according to the amendment, a new article is added to the Code (428-1 violation of the legislation on tourism).

According to the article, for sale by a tour operator or travel agents of a travel package without concluding a civil liability insurance contract with an insurer, individuals will be fined 1,000 manats, and legal entities will be fined 2,000 manats.

Hotels will be fined two to five thousand manats for activity without the star category in line with Article 9.1 of the law of the Republic of Azerbaijan 'On Tourism.'

Subjects of tourism activities will also be fined for not entering information into the unified tourism register (300 manats).

After discussions, the draft amendments to the Code were put to the vote and adopted in the first reading.
