The Milli Majlis, Azerbaijan's parliament, has passed a bill in its third reading to significantly increase fines for overloaded large-scale and heavy vehicles. This move comes as part of the country's ongoing efforts to improve road safety and protect infrastructure.
According to Report, the amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses were discussed and approved during today's parliamentary session. These changes specifically target Article 127-1, which deals with the procedure for handling administrative offenses related to oversized or overweight vehicles on public roads.
New penalties for individuals:
200 manats ($117.65) for exceeding size limits (width by 0.15m or more, length by 0.20m or more, height by 0.20m or more)
600 manats ($352.94) for exceeding weight limits
1,200 manats ($705.88) for repeat offenses within a year.
Penalties for officials and legal entities make 1,500 manats ($882.35), 4,000 manats ($2352.94) respectively and 2,500 manats ($1,470.59) and 7,000 manats ($4,117.65) in case of repeat offenses within a year, respectively.
