Azerbaijan's Milli Majlis (Parliament) has approved a groundbreaking law in its third reading that will allow teenagers as young as 14 to operate small electric vehicles on the country's roads.
According to Report, which cites the amendment to the Road Traffic Law, while previously, 14-year-olds were only permitted to ride bicycles on public roads, now, this age group will have the freedom to navigate the streets on eco-friendly electric vehicles.
The law defines a small electric vehicle as a personal mobility device equipped with an electric motor not exceeding 1 kW in power. These vehicles are designed to transport a single person and must meet specific criteria, including maximum weight without rider of 55 kg, maximum height of 1.40 meters, maximum length of 2 meters.
